Karr Yip

Karr Yip is a both spatial and new media designer with both Architecture & Fine Art background. Karr graduated with his Master of Architecture at CUHK in 2003, and then he went to Harvard GSD and Royal College of Art London for further studies. Karr was a lecturer in CUHK fine art department teaching 3D and sculpture major course in 2005. Currently he is the Founder and Director of ADO ltd., Consultant of HK culture museum and Co-Chairman of culture innovation subcom of Smart City Consortium.

Karr’s works cover architecture, infrastructure design, theme hotel, clubs, shops, restaurants, public art curation and exhibitions. For every project , he studies deeply the historical and cultural background, and transforms the values into new ideas, integrating branding concept, artistic quality, technology, marketing and businesses strategies, to work out a total creative solutions.

For Art , Karr is the curator of several large scale HK public art schemes held in Central, Kung Tong and Tuen Mun. Karr was the Winner of Philippe Charriol Foundation Painting Competition and Schoeni Prize of Sovereign Art Foundation Asian Painting Competition. Karr’s sculpture is selected to display permanently in  HK Chief Executive Office recently.

For Design, Karr is the winner of the 1st HK Young Design Talent Award 2005 and HK Ten Outstanding Designer award 2009. His  design works have been awarded as New York Interior Design Award, Outstanding Greater China Design Award ; A' Design Award; ARROW The Greater China Interior Design Award; JCD Design Space Design Award, Global Design Award,...etc. And they are well published in FRAME, DOMUS, PERSPECTIVE, THE COOLHUNTER, ...etc.

Karr has successfully completed over hundred of cultural projects, such as the T-Park schematic design and consultancy, Island East Harbour front Cycling walkway schematic design, Tai Kung 100 Faces, Mt Davis Youth Hostel Design, Mei Ho House revitalization interior design,  ChongQing Mobile Showroom, Sparkle! at Oi! Art Exhibition, CMHK Clubhouse, Wuhan Tiandi Clubhouse, Wan Chai Pier Detail Design, Mong Kok Post Office, Ma On Shan Public Library and Wunan Pearl culture museum ...etc

Karr has over 15 years of enterprise management and branding experience. With the leading of Karr, ADO achieved The best small enterprise award and ITC Gold award as well in 2014. Karr is now developing an app project to help NGO manage and communicate with their members. Karr ‘s Goal is combining HK design and technology power to create an cultural innovation international brand.
